Welcome to your Forest School journey!
We now offer a blended approach with courses completed via a mix of online
& practical training days and self directed study enabling new candidates to
join on an ongoing weekly basis.
Our comprehensive Forest School leader course provides you with everything
you need to become a Forest School Leader (inc First Aid and additional
competency courses) to run effective Forest School interventions.
Join us this Autumn and receive over £1500 worth of training for £1100!
Suitable for: Foundation phase, KS2 & KS3 Teachers, LSA / HLTA’s wishing to lead
Forest School sessions.
This course is intended to provide the skills and knowledge required to set up and deliver safe
and effective Forest School programmes and for those who wish to become a Forest School
Leader.Forest School is a proven pedagogical methodology and one which has been adopted
extensively throughout Scandinavia where it has become a key element of Early Years
provision.
A great way to deliver the LNF, Wellbeing Act and Successful Futures ….. using the
outdoors!!
Forest School provides a unique way of creating a child centred learning environment which
fosters independence and self esteem in children through involvement in stimulating outdoor
learning activities that enhance physical, emotional, social and cognitive development.
Start your Forest School journey with an authentic Forest School company who has trained in
Scandinavia, runs Wales first Nature Kindergarten and are the current FSA South Wales
Group Coordinators.
Our leader course provides a blended approach of in person, face to face, webinar, tutorials
with self directed learning and woodland practical sessions to aid you in achieving your
Forest School Leader qualification.
A break down of our comprehensive Forest School Leader course with over 130 contact
hours to support your journey is as follows:
Day 1: Introduction day & an observation of a Forest School!
Day 2: Woodland Ecology & Play
Day 3: Tools, Fire & Shelters!
Day 4: Learning Theory and Micro-Teach planning
Day 5: More Practical Skills!
Consolidation period to practice and master skills learnt (self study).
Day 6: Practical Skills assessment day
Monthly Tutorials (20 hours of contact time).
Webinar 1: Understanding the Forest School approach to learning.
Webinar 2: Play and holistic learning at Forest School.
Webinar 3: Risk and understanding hazards at Forest School.
Webinar 4: Observation techniques used at Forest School for wellbeing and
involvement.
Webinar 5: Documenting learning journeys at Forest School.
Day 7/8 : Leading to Forest School & Paediatric First Aid Certificates (L3).
Day 9 : Leading to Outdoor Food Hygiene (L2).
Online Forum for messaging with your tutor
Portfolio support via an E-Learning system that can be completed at own pace
(submission within 12 months of start date).
This qualification is composed of 5 modules of learning.
Topics include:
Unit 1: Forest School Programme: Learning & Development
Unit 2: Forest School Programme: Planning.
Unit 3: Forest School Programme: Delivery.
Unit 4: Forest School Programme: Practical Skills.
Unit 5: Forest School Programme: Woodland Environment.
Assessment tasks will result in each candidate producing a portfolio of evidence meeting all
assessment criteria across 5 units.Forest School is a proven pedagogical methodology and

If you already hold a current 2 day first aid and /or a food hygiene certificate we can reduce
your training by 1-3 days.

We accept REACT funded placements on this course. Please not there is an additional £250
charge to cover the additional admin processes related to this fund and all REACT trainees
are required to sign a learner contract to underwrite their full course fees should WG not be
able to pay the fee's.
