Do you struggle to find a session planner suitable for the holistic approach of Forest School? Do you wish you could save time and print out a session planner for each session?
We’ve created our holistic session planner focused on breaking down the session into a Pestalozzi inspired approach. This means that each session will have an activity that encourages children to develop their head (cognitive/thinking), their heart (emotional, wellbeing), and their hands (physical, doing).
There is also a section for session topics which can be used to explore an idea or interest that a child has had such as “Why do leaves change colour?” or could be the wider class topic at your school if you need to loosely incorporate this into your session planning.
Additionally, there is a differentiation bubble to consider how to adapt your activities for the children in your class as everyone will have different abilities, accessibility requirements, needs and interests.
Reflection is a huge part of the Forest School process and so each session plan finishes with a session reflection to be completed after the session. This reflection can then be reviewed to inform the planning for future sessions.
*Disclaimers: There is no risk assessment section in these planners as your risk assessment will need to be done in whatever format your setting requires according to regulations. These printables are for your planning purposes and do not contain session or activity ideas. Purchases are non refundable.
