Outdoor Adventure Team Building

Team Building

Ignite UP team building activities are closely aligned with the characteristics of a great team. Measured by their levels of competition, collaboration, challenge, and fun.All are designed to leave a lasting and positive effect on the participants. We help teams develop the range of skills needed to improve their ability to understand self and to work together as a winning team.

In addition to this our programmes can also be developed to support emotional health and well-being of teams and individuals utilising the outdoors.

Common issues facing teams

  • Lack of team cohesion: Due to newly established team, remote working implications/non face to face contact, lack of understanding of defined role and expectations.
  • Limited self-awareness of own contribution and that of other team members, recognising opportunities to influence.
  • Variable level of communication effectiveness due to remote working, non face to face working, lack of understanding of own decision making on others, not understanding key stakeholder/sponsor needs for progress and performance data.
  • Poor time keeping, letting deadlines slip and lack of awareness of implications on others in team and organisation.
  • Lack of understanding of defined and agreed team values.

Delivery method

  • Interactive, skills based workshops that challenge individuals and teams in the outdoors to explore individual and team strengths and development areas.
  • Workshop to incorporate a focus on Belbin Team Roles model and the characteristics of high performing teams (Please note that a Belbin team roles questionnaire will need to be completed and returned to Ignite UP prior to team building day to enable analysis of the team).

Workshop options (water and land can be mixed if preferred).

  • Water : A programme of water based activities to chose from: raft building, gorge walking, canoeing, kayaking & Paddle boarding.
  • Land: A programme of land based activity to choose from: Bush craft shelter building & firelighting techniques, archery, mountain biking, orienteering, geocaching.
  • Zombie Apocalypse: Learn the skills of becoming a highly effective team and put your newly developed team and bush craft skills to the test to overcome and survive a zombie breakout in the woods. This can be a 1 day option or continue into the evening/early night. If team members are caught they become part of the zombie hoard!!

Success Criteria

• To create a high performing delivery focused team with an understanding of value of own contribution and that of other team members. Raising awareness of how high performing teams function.
