Our 5 day Fast Track course starts 22nd April (Easter Break), 2019.

Only Suitable for:

Experienced outdoor practitioners, Foundation phase, KS2 Teachers, LSA / HLTA’s & child minders already practicing in the outdoors and wishing to progress into leading Forest School programmes.

Please note, this course does not include the 2 day Forest School training. It focuses on the Practical & Woodland environment Units. Portfolio is completed by candidate self directed learning & utilising our e-learning platform.

Forest School is a proven pedagogical methodology and one which has been adopted extensively throughout Scandinavia where it has become a key element of Early Years provision.

A great way to deliver the LNF, Wellbeing Act and Successful Futures ….. using the outdoors!!

Forest School provides a unique way of creating a child centred learning environment which fosters independence and self esteem in children through involvement in stimulating outdoor learning activities that enhance physical, emotional, social and cognitive development.

Our Fast track course involves:

  • 4 days practical skills & underpinning theoretical knowledge development (22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th April)
  • 1 day Practical Skills Assessment (26th April, 2019).
  • Theory is completed via our E-Learning system and can be completed at own pace (submission within 10 months of start date).
  • Most of each day is spent in the outdoors, please come prepared.
  • Tutorial session via Skype or FaceTime


Optional extras (please see our events page for further details and booking)

  • 1 day Outdoor Food Hygiene at Level 2 (15th May, 2019)
  • 1/2 day Documenting learning Journeys (16th May, 2019)
  • 1/2 day Observation techniques (21st May, 2019)
  • Study Visit to undertake observation at Dare Valley Nature Kindergarten (17th May, 2019).


This course is intended to provide the skills and knowledge required to set up and deliver safe and effective Forest School programmes and for those who wish to become a Forest School Leader.

This qualification is composed of 5 modules of learning.

Topics include:

Unit 1: Forest School Programme: Learning & Development

Unit 2: Forest School Programme: Planning.

Unit 3: Forest School Programme: Delivery.

Unit 4: Forest School Programme: Practical Skills.

Unit 5: Forest School Programme: Woodland Environment.

Assessment tasks will result in each candidate producing a portfolio of evidence meeting  all assessment criteria across 5 units.
